Background & History

Amanda Scott is a Senior Associate at Frost Law focusing on U.S. international tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, investors, and privately held companies.

Education first tells much of Amanda's story: a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and undergraduate degrees in Public Policy and Business Administration from the Georgia Institute of Technology. That foundation supports a career built entirely around cross-border tax questions.

Before arriving at Frost Law, Amanda spent time in international tax at Baker Tilly, Anchin, and PwC, advising individuals and businesses on complex U.S. international tax matters. This experience gave her a grounded, practical view of how cross-border structures and transactions actually play out for clients — not just how they look on paper.

Today, she advises clients on the U.S. tax consequences of cross-border transactions, from mergers and acquisitions to restructurings, investments, and other inbound and outbound matters. Clients often come to her with businesses, assets, or ownership interests spread across multiple jurisdictions, and she helps them work through the individual and business tax issues that come with that territory — foreign corporations and partnerships, foreign trusts, tax treaties, foreign tax credits, cross-border ownership structures, and international reporting obligations among them.

Amanda's work includes both transactional planning and ongoing compliance. She's particularly drawn to matters involving founders, business owners, and families, where a transaction's tax consequences reach into broader questions of investment and wealth planning. Throughout, she works alongside clients' legal, accounting, and financial advisors to keep both the immediate tax picture and the client's longer-term goals in view.
